Venice Time Case is a not-for-profit itinerant project conceived and curated by Luca Massimo Barbero. Fifty works executed by fifty artists based in Venice and its surroundings will be transported across Europe inside five Fly Case suitcases, to eventually enter a public collection. For centuries, Venice has been a cosmopolitan center for the arts and culture. Yet, some aspects of its contemporary life often remain hidden and ignored. Venice Time Case aims at providing visibility to some of the city’s emerging artists, across a national and international public. It is a moving 'place,’ which fosters an encounter between artists working solo or in shared studios, and sheds light on a lesser-known aspect of contemporary art in Venice, on "the hidden vitality of art in the city that stands in between the land and the sea."
Luca Massimo Barbero, modern and contemporary art historian and critic, is the Director of the Istituto di Storia dell’Arte della Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice and scientific consultant of the Fondazione Lucio Fontana. He is the author of numerous publications and curator of exhibitions of Post-War Italian art.
